Dear soccer participants,
It is time to start thinking about the upcoming 2009 soccer season. The moment we lost to Hotchkiss in the State Championship game last November 3, I started thinking about how we are going to win it in 2009. The preseason does not officially begin until August 17 according to CHSAA. I will be offering a preseason training camp from August 10 through August 14. This camp will consist of two training sessions per day. The mornings will focus on technical skill and conditioning, while the afternoon sessions will offer scrimmage play. Because this is a “camp”, a fee of $50 will be required along with a signed medical waiver. This will be an excellent opportunity to get ready for the upcoming season.
All participants in the preseason camp are to report to Firman Field at 8:45 am on the morning of August 10. All Participants must have their medical forms completed, signed by a physician, and filed in the athletic office by August 7. Practices are : 9:00am - 11:30am /1:00pm - 3:00 pm.
Sixteen members of the team will be traveling to Costa Rica this July to compete in six games against various Cost Rican club teams. In preparation for this trip, there will be summer practices on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 5:00 to 7:00 pm throughout the month of June. We will also practice on July 1, 2, 8,9,10,15,16,17. I encourage everyone playing this fall to attend these summer practices.
Enclosed are the schedules for all the preseason practices, and the Varsity and Junior Varsity schedules.
The practice uniform consists of red, black, or white shorts, and a white shirt. Players are responsible for bringing their own water bottle and lunch each day. Running shoes, a bathing suit, and a towel will also be required for the first week of practice.
Seniors need to plan their college visitation schedule carefully. Please do not compromise the potential of the team’s success because of last minute planning. Seniors are required to discuss their college visitation plans with the coaching staff during the preseason.
I am very excited about the upcoming season! The weight room will be open to all athletes from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, and again from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday throughout the summer. Everyone should resistance train at least three times a week.
