TENNIS PRE-SEASON LETTER 2009
Date Posted: Wednesday Jun 10, 2009
Event Date: Monday Aug 17, 2009
CA Tennis Players and Parents,
You have signed up to participate in Colorado Academy’s 2009 Boys Tennis season, and I wanted to take a moment to welcome you, and to provide some details prior to the season’s start. The tennis season will begin on August 17th at Colorado Academy. It is strongly advised that players come to fall tryouts physically and emotionally prepared for a tough tryout schedule. Our match schedule is currently posted at the CA Athletics website (www.camustangs.org).
Tryouts
We only going to have one week of preseason for our tryouts, and each day of tryouts will start around 8AM and go until 5PM. While the exact schedule, format and match lengths have not been finalized, tennis tryouts will again be centered on a singles tournament. An athlete may have to play up to 3 pro-set matches in one day, so please come to tryouts prepared. All forms (emergency cards, physical forms) MUST be turned in prior to the start of tryouts. No student will be allowed to tryout until all their forms are in.
Coaching Staff
I’m happy to announce that all coaches will be returning for the upcoming season with the exception of JV coach Jay Leeuenburg. The athletic department is working on finding his replacement.
Uniforms
Uniforms are being discussed at the school administration level, and we will get out the details as soon as we know more.
Summer Programs
In addition to a footwork and condition program, we will be holding an evening tennis camp at CA the week before the season begins. Details are still pending on that and will be sent to everyone once they are finalized. Each of these programs are not mandatory, but provide a great opportunity for the team to do some off-season preparation for the upcoming season and in addition to footwork and conditioning, we will also be drilling and hitting balls.
Footwork and Conditioning Program:
Dates: Monday and Wednesdays (Starting June 8th)
Time: 6:00 pm – 7:30(ish)
Cost: $160.00 (16 sessions)
Where: Colorado Academy Tennis Courts
Details: This is open to both the girls and boys programs at CA, along with players from other schools.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me at the email or cell phone number listed at the bottom of this letter. I look forward to seeing everyone in August.
See you all soon!
